The Writer

I am a 24 year old youth pastor in New Castle, Indiana.  I also do some freelance writing on the side.  Obviously, I have a great interest in apologetics.  My other interests include music, sports, Haiti, and running.  Stick around to read how these five interests make up my life.  I have a B.S. from Free Will Baptist Bible College, in Nashville, Tennessee where I received a degree in Youth Ministry and Bible.  In the next few years I hope to enroll in seminary and get a Master’s Degree in Christian Apologetics.  It is my goal to incorporate apologetics into my youth ministry so that each student who passes through while I serve gains a better understanding of who they are in Christ, and what it means to be a Christian.  I have a wonderful wife who is truly my better half.  She supports me in all that I do.

I’m involved with a missions group out of Haiti called Mountain Faith Mission of Haiti.  I also keep a blog on my obsession with running as I try to raise money for Mountain Faith Mission through Run4Haiti.

    Ryan,
What is the name of the book that you told me about at Bible Conference and again at your house the night we watched the tornado?

    Thanks,
    D

Greetings Ryan (I hope I got your name correct..)!

My name is Craig Betts. I’m a 42 year old husband and father of four children. I am a christian school teacher.

I was doing some research on the TV show “Glee” and I happened to find your blog here.

I just wanted to comment and share with you that it is so refreshing to hear that other believers are actually seeing the deception and lies that are coming from television shows like this one. I am so frustrated with the church and how desensitized it has become. I am daily battling with the hearts of so many kids who are wallowing in the world system with one foot and the other foot is in the church, sailing along in all the filth of today’s media with absolutely no conviction….and yet they say that they are followers of Jesus.

I enjoyed reading your lengthy discussion which you had a year ago with the young man about “Glee”. He is very typical of so many of today’s christian youth. They are wallowing in the mud pond, trashing their spirits with all kinds of garbage. I’ve heard this excuse so many times – “It’s just real life and you can’t ignore it or shelter yourself”. This is a lie from the pit of Hell. It is exactly what Satan wants people to think. A person can justify watching this stuff all they want, but the bottom line is that their hearts are deceived and they are cold to the reality of the sin that they are taking in to their spirits on a daily basis. God is a Holy God. He does not demand perfection from us, but He does demand that we walk in holiness as much as we are able while on this earth. That’s what the Holy Spirit is for – to help us resist. I’m thinking of the verse that says that there should not be even a HINT of immorality or sin amongst believers. Regularly watching any kind of television show that glorifies a blatantly sinful lifestyle goes against the command in this verse. I have had to speak so many times with my 17 year old daughter and remind her that everything she is listening to or watching is feeding her spirit in some way or another. I’m glad that you quoted the verse “Whatsoever things are pure, lovely, of good report, etc”. This verse sums it up.

Thank you for standing on the Truth. Thank you for being bold to speak Truth without backing down one inch!

    Blessings to you…

    Craig

By the way, please respond back to my email – musikfan@dejazzd.com if you are able. I may not find this blog site again, and it would be easier to share any additional thoughts with you or with me.

    Thanks!
